Day 1

Morning

After tucking into a delicious breakfast, visit the most popular part of the Tullamore Court Hotel- the swimming pool! It’s surrounded by a separate kiddie’s pool, water volcano, water curtain, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi… something for all the family!

Early Afternoon

Begin your 3-day adventure in Ireland’s hidden heartlands, with a trip to Belvedere House.  There’s fun for all the family, with an animal sanctuary, 30m zipline and lakeside swings. If the little ones want to save their legs, there is also a tram service which provides guided tours around the parkland on selected days throughout the year.

Our favourite trail is the “Narnia Trail”, where children can find various creatures turned to stone by the White Witch and if all that wasn’t fairylike enough, there is also a magical Fairy Garden.

Afternoon

Lilliput Adventure Centre is located in Johnathan Swift Park, nestled on the shores of Lough Ennell. The whole family can take part in specialised courses in canoeing, hill walking, bog jumping, rock climbing or raft building, to mention a few. It’ll keep those adventurous little ones entertained for hours!

Evening

After that adventure packed day, the kids are sure to be tired. Take a nap in your spacious family room, which features multi-channel TV and unlimited reading options via our Press Reader App. Before enjoying dinner for all the family in our The Court Bar & Restaurant.

Day 2

Morning

Round up the family and spend the morning outdoors exploring Lough Boora’s walking and cycling routes. Don’t let the word “park” fool you – this is no ordinary grassy space.

Rent a bike and cycle through the scenic Parklands. There are a wide selection of bikes available for all ages, even two-seater trailers for the younger ones. Bring some snacks with you from the Coffee Dock at the Tullamore Court Hotel, before you take off on your adventure in the morning and enjoy a scenic picnic before you leave!

Top Tip: Make sure you visit Fairy Avenue, the home to 14 fairies, each of them bringing something special to the park.

Early Afternoon

For a taste of farming life, visit Tearaways Pet Farm and Activity Centre which is run by the Kennedy family. They provide indoor and outdoor activities to keep all the family happy and active, whatever the weather. Not only can you see lots of friendly animals such as, goats, emus, sheep and Scottish Highlander but there is also a go-cart track for wanna-be young rally drivers, football area, playground and a two-floor indoor activity centre suitable for all ages. Get ready for an afternoon full of endless fun and adventure!

Late Afternoon

Enjoy a leisurely scenic walk in the beautiful gardens of Birr Castle and make sure you stop by The Treehouse Adventure Area. It features Ireland’s largest treehouse along with sand pits, climbing frames, slides and much more… a great way for the kids to burn off energy! An extra bonus if you are planning your staycation in September, a balloon show happens annually at Birr Castle and is a spectacle to see!

Fun Fact: Did you know that over 150 years ago Birr was the Silicon Valley of the world? If you were a mad scientist, engineer or astronomer, Birr was the place to be!

Evening

If you have any energy left after another action-packed day…. take a trip to the nearby IMC Cinema. Followed by a meal in Captain House Restaurant, located on the Main Street. As the name suggests, everything follows a nautical theme. The Captain House pulls out all the stops and once inside you’ll feel like you’re in a real-life fishing village in the Midlands!

Day 3

Morning

If you have any young adventurers in the family- they will love Birr Outdoor Educational Centre! Located on the banks of the River Shannon, choose from a range of water sports such as, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and sail-boarding. If you’re more of a feet-on-dry-land kind of person that’s okay too, as there’s classes in orienteering, rock-climbing and archery. Are you and the family up for the challenge?

Early Afternoon

Time to get competitive and put on your bowling shoes as Cosmic Bowl is only a short 5-minute drive from the hotel. Where all the family can enjoy attractions such as bowling, air hockey, pool, shooting and racing games plus many more!

Late Afternoon

Located nearby the hotel, Charleville Castle is the ideal spot for a leisurely family walk and to unwind after an eventful 3 days. Along the path which leads to Charleville Castle, keep an eye out for tiny fairy homes up high in the trees. The fairies are shy though so you will have to really be on the lookout! About half way to the castle is a large fairy home with an eye-catching red door, maybe signifying the home of a VIP fairy! This is sure to excite the interest of even the littlest explorers.

Evening

Spend your last evening unwinding and reminiscing about your action-packed trip to the Midlands, over a delicious meal in the The Court Bar & Restaurant.
